Basic Setup for the Full Swing

To have consistent results you will need to have good posture, ball position, a good grip, correct alignments and be balanced when swinging. To get the correct posture stand erect and tilt your spine forward to roughly 11 on the clock. From here you just need to slightly flex your knees.

Setup to the golf ball with your feet together, proceed to let arms hang and get your ball position. Your grip should be neutral to strong. If you tend to slice you should have a stronger grip. A strong grip is one where you can see 3 knuckles of your top hand.

The bottom hand is on the club lightly and not on top of the club but slightly under. Remember that all irons are played 3 inches off your front foot and as the clubs get longer your stance gets wider.

With your woods you play the driver off the front heel and the fairway woods roughly 1 inch inside your heel. This will make it much easier setting up consistently to the golf ball. If you have a poor lie or you are using utility wedges the ball could be put a little further back in the stance.

You need to make sure that your feet are parallel to your target line. If you are not aimed correctly it will be hard to produce consistent golf shots.
